Outreach & Education
A BIISC specialist is available to present on invasive species and related issues for your class, club, or event at no charge. We offer presentations on a number of topics, but any presentation can be modified or altered to fit your needs. Contact us to discuss!
Events
BIISC offers speakers/booth set-ups for career days, science nights, community fairs, activity camps, and similar school-based events.
We are always adding to our selection of materials that can be used in hands-on experiential learning opportunities. Materials can be borrowed or can be used in classes led by our BIISC staff (with enough lead time). We also offer several opportunities for citizen science.
BIISC is committed to pursuing high-quality professional development, training, and workshop opportunities for teachers. Check back regularly for updates. Click here.
Curricula
Links to various curricula for all grade levels for place-based, environmentally focused lessons to bring into your classroom. Contact biisc@hawaii.edu if you would like to access our Google Drive for little fire ant-related materials.
Field Trips
Service-learning and interpretative guides for field trips are available. Currently, we do not have funding for transportation. Our field trips are best for middle school and above.
