LFA Training Workshop at Leilani Community Center! RSVP REQUIRED!! Saturday Jan 21st, 9-12

Posted on December 2, 2016 by Franny Brewer

On Saturday, January 21st, BIISC will be offering a workshop on control of little fire ants (LFA) in Leilani. Learn about the unusual ecology and habits of these ants in order to plan the most effective treatment. We will discuss different products, how they are used, and how to select the right product for your situation. We will also discuss how you can lower your costs and boost long-term results by working with your neighbors to combat LFA on a neighborhood scale, and provide some helpful strategies for engaging your neighbors in working together.

We will begin the day with registration and sign in from 9-9:30, followed by an informational presentation. The second half of the workshop will focus on mixing and applying treatment products in the park, and we will be sharing a simple recipe formula that you can use to mix Tango gel bait at home. We want you to get hands-on with mixing and applying the treatment, so please bring/dress in long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes, and be ready to get a little messy!

*If you previously attended one of BIISC’s LFA community information classes, you need only attend the the mixing demo to qualify for the County Voucher program. Email Kawehi (below) to reserve your space and let her know if you already attended a class.

Qualify for County Vouchers

This workshop will qualify you for the County of Hawaii voucher coupon program. This coupon program will help defray some of the cost of purchasing certain LFA control products. There are only a limited supply of coupons and this county program won’t last forever. Don’t miss out on this chance to get everything you need to plan your defense against LFA! RSVP below to reserve your space.

SPACE IS LIMITED – PLEASE RSVP TO ENSURE YOUR PLACE! Email Jade at
jademiya@hawaii.edu or call 933-3340
If you have already attended one of our classes and only want to attend the mixing demo, please indicate that in your email!
