LFA Training Workshop in HPP!
On Saturday, October 29th, from 9am to 12pm, BIISC will be returning to the Community Center in HPP for a workshop about the control of little fire ants (LFA). Learn about the unusual ecology and habits of these ants in order to plan the most effective treatment. We will discuss different products, how they are used, and how to select the right product for your situation. We will also discuss how you can lower your costs and boost long-term results by working with your neighbors to combat LFA on a neighborhood scale.
Following the information session, we will be mixing and applying treatment products in the HPP Community Center Park and sharing a simple recipe formula that you can use to mix Tango gel bait at home. We do need volunteer help to treat the Park, so if you would like to get hands-on with mixing and applying the treatment, please bring/dress in long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes.
Qualifying for County Voucher
By attending this meeting and mixing/spraying demo you will be qualified for the County of Hawaii voucher coupon program scheduled to start before the end of 2016. These vouchers will help offset the price of the recommended LFA control products that we will be discussing during the training. Details such as retailers, exact products, and release dates will soon be announced by the county, and the program will only be run for a limited amount of months.
Don’t miss out on this chance to get everything you need to plan your defense against LFA! RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office 933-3340. Space is limited!!
If you attended a previous LFA meeting this summer you only need to participate in the mixing demo to qualify for the county voucher program. For these people the mixing demo will begin at 9:30. Please be here at 9:15 to fill out some forms and volunteers MUST be wearing proper PPE as mentioned above.
